Considering the homeowner’s perspective, some decide to build independent floor plans where one can live on one floor and rent out the others or rent out all floors, thereby benefiting financially from the rent, while other homeowners choose to build a house in a single plot for one family use such as duplexes or triplexes.
The design considerations for both of these house types are mentioned below:
An individual floor typically refers to designing a single level or story within a residential building designed to function as an independent living space.
Each floor has its separate entrance, often including all the components such as bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living areas. Mostly while designing individual floor-type residential buildings stilt parking is provided since the residents living on different floors shall have different vehicles. The majority of staircases are positioned in a manner that residents on different floors can access them without disturbing other residents from the stilt floor.
This shall be defined as a building that is built according to clients' need, a single house in a housing plot that might be two or three storeys high.
To feel a sense of connectivity often a staircase is provided inside the house which is from the living area of the ground floor connecting to the common space of the first floor and so on.
For seamless communication among family members double-height spaces are created which also gives a sense of spaciousness and visual appeal to the occupants. In a single-unit house often the ground floor is intended for accommodating common spaces like the living hall, dining and kitchen whereas the first floor is dedicated to private spaces such as bedrooms and a private living hall. However, these elements can vary based on the needs of the client.
